COVENTRY GET A DRAW AT WALSALL

Coventry City were forced to a draw by their hosts, Walsall in a League One clash on Saturday, 29th October 2016.

The result saw City leave the relegation zone after the game at the Bescot Stadium. City got the match opener but the hosts claimed a point as they equalized.

Ruben Lameiras struck in the opening minutes of the game to prove that the visitors wanted to win. His curling shot was inches away from the opener. The Sky Blues got their opener in the 36th minute through Andy Rose. Marvin Sordell sent a low cross ten yards out but Rose reacted faster than the Walsall defenders to convert the opportunity.

The goal forced the home side to push for an equalizer. Lee Burge almost allowed it before the half time whistle as he spilled a shot from Adam Chambers. Chambers had directed a well-hit shot from 30 yards for the City shot stopper to spill but later recover. Both teams went on recess but after the break, Coventry could have put the game beyond Walsall. Daniel Agyei struck but the Walsall goalkeeper Neil Etheridge stopped it from being the second goal.

In the 76th minute, Walsall got their equalizer through Erhun Oztumer. Oztumer exchanged passes with Simeon Jackson before he scored 15 yards out. Burge produced a fine save when he tipped over a shot from Kieron Morris late in the game. Sordell missed a chance 15 yards out for City, and the partnership between Oztumer and substitute Liam Kinsella ended in a poor attempt at goal for the hosts.

In all, the possession was 50:50 but the visitors got more shots. Of the 16 shots, Coventry had, only four were on target while Walsall had six on target out of 11. a
